My brother-in-law Mark came to visit. He had an ethics training here in DC and his hotel was 2 blocks up from the white house, which was quite fun. The poor guy and his poor friend, I walked them alllllllll over DC. We walked a lot. Mark is kind of an insomniac. I think he slept well that night.
Here's what we did ....
Of course went to The Mall and had to see the Capitol - that's me and the BIL. You can almost see Mr. Freedom on top of the dome.
You can see Mr. Freedom a lot better in this picture. I think this is the best one I've gotten of the Cap. It was a freaking HOT day, but the sky was beautiful, and perfect for a good shot of the building without a whole bunch of other crap in front of it. There is ALWAYS other crap in front of it when I'm down there. Today was a lucky day.
Then, because I was with 2 boys, of course we had to go to the Air and Space Museum. Those boys like the big rockets and all of that. I've been there a bazillion times. It was still fun though. This is Mark with the Wright Bro's replicated aeroplane.
Then we moseyed up 7th Street and got into Chinatown where we had a fabulous dinner with soup and appetizers and family-style dishes, so we got to try lots of fun things I haven't had before. It was oh-so-yum. Thanks for the fancy-schmancey dinner Mark!! :) This is Mark not waiting for the picture to be taken before he starts walking out of the picture. I'm sorry. My camera just isn't as fast ok? It's a little slow. It's doing the best it can.
Then we went back to the Hilton. Nice diggs, huh? Mark's coworker picked up his car and we drove around the monuments in the evening with his convertible top down. It was a delightful evening to be driving around such. We parked and walked up to the Washington Monument. It looks so little there!
But no. IT was just really far away. REALLY, Mark is only about 3 blocks tall on the monument. Crazy huh?
And that was Mark's Washington Adventure. Well, maybe he did a few more things, but we were pretty dang busy, and that was a LOT of walking. Good thing we all had good walking shoes on.
And now, my corniness and dorkiness has exhausted me. I shall go eat my dinner.
